Rim Clamp
The Rim Clamp is a heavy-duty external pipe alignment clamp engineered to deliver precise joint fit-up on large-diameter pipelines prior to welding. Its rigid ring-and-lug design applies uniform radial clamping pressure around the full pipe circumference, correcting out-of-round conditions and minimising hi-lo (misalignment) at the weld joint. The clamp is fabricated from high-strength alloy steel and designed for repeated use across the full life of a pipeline project.
General Information
Rim clamps are the preferred external line-up solution on mainline pipeline construction where large-diameter pipe and tight weld tolerances demand consistent, high-force clamping. The clamp is positioned straddling the pipe joint, tightened to bring both pipe ends into concentric alignment, and removed after the root pass is complete. Available in configurations to cover a broad range of pipe diameters, rim clamps are compatible with manual, hydraulic, and pneumatic tightening systems. Their robust construction ensures reliable performance in demanding field conditions including cross-country, swamp, and rocky terrain.
